Thermal baths Yverdon, five senses in architecture
Kupcová, Tereza ; Křikavová, Iva (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Spa is located on the outskirts of the Swiss city of Yverdon. Area is surrounded by disparate buildings especially residential character. There are historical buildings on the land and buildings of the spa and hotel. The current spa and the outbuilding of hotel don´t meet requirements, that´s why the buildings will be replaced by a new complex. Neighbourhood doesn´t have any relationship with the spa, that´s why the whole land is surrounded by a wall. Water surface with three “floating” pavilions is inserted into this closed spa park. There are the public spa, the therapeutic spa and the part of the hotel on the water surface. Each of them works largely independently; they are connected by the water surface. The complex is separated by a part of shallow water from the park. It´s solitaire in the park, but it has close connection with it. The spa complex is located near the forest on the south part of the land, because the whole system is quite open.
Methodology of the Principles of Rehabilitation of Cultural Heritage Buildings
Balík L. ; Nedvědová K. ; Šimůnek I. ; Kudrnáčová L. ; Bolom-Kotari S.
The aim of the presented methodology is to summarize the rehabilitation principles that can be applied in the context of the repair of historic buildings. The methodology defines the fundamental influences that affect the approach to rehabilitation and also specifies the individual steps that are part of the actual implementation. Attention is paid to three basic areas of rehabilitation measures. These are addressing moisture and related problems, modifying the indoor microclimate, and restoring or strengthening the structural function of the building. Concerning conservation aspects, the principles presented are directed predominantly towards conserving and prolonging the life of the existing structural elements, taking into account future use and operation. The preservation of the original forms and functions of the individual structures is pursued as far as possible. The target group of users of this methodology is conservation officers, designers, owners, and managers of historic buildings. The methodology provides these users with the basic information for initiating the restoration of monuments.
